The Complexity of a Tomato

Have you ever stopped to look at a vegetable or a piece of fruit and meditated on the fact that it is completely natural, unaltered, and extremely complex. A tomato for example contains thousands of different phytochemicals (plant-derived chemicals)!

It just boggles my mind when I see people taking supplements when they could be getting everything they need from increasing their fruit and vegetable intake. Don't get me wrong, supplements added to a healthy diet can be beneficial, but you just can not extract all the nutrients found in the natural food source. Eating a variety of plant foods is the only way to make sure we are getting all the nutrients that our body needs. Summer is the perfect time to increase our natural food intake..and try out some fresh summer recipes!
